Description
The Grotto at St Michael's Convent, formerly known as Park Hill, is a grotto built after 1875, likely by Sir Henry Tate. It is constructed from concrete, with some artificial stone and brickwork at the top of the cavern. A sunken pathway made of crazy-paving and stone steps extends approximately 70 meters, flanked by rocks, with spurs that pass under a bridge to the east and include at least two caverns. The grotto also features planting troughs and is part of a series of garden structures.
