Description
The Town Hall, located on Tweedy Road in Bromley, was constructed in two stages. The earlier section, built in 1906 by architect R Frank Atkinson, is designed in a Neo-Wren style. The later addition along Widmere Road, completed in 1939 by C Cowles Voysey, is not currently listed. The older part of the building is two storeys high, made of red brick with stone quoins and window dressings. It features a hipped slate roof with a central cupola and has a total of 15 windows. The central three windows are set within a projection that has an open pediment above. There is a modified Venetian window on the first floor, and a semi-circular porch topped with an urn and a blank cartouche, supported by two modified Ionic columns and two and a half columns. The ground floor of this section is rusticated. The remaining windows consist of alternating small casements and round-headed casements, each with stone architraves and keystones. Each end bay is set in a projecting wing.
