Description
No. 181 High Street is a building designed by architect Ernest Newton in 1898. It was intended to be part of a group with the Royal Bell Hotel and No. 179. The building is four storeys tall and constructed of brown brick, topped with a tiled roof featuring a modillion cornice. It has two gables adorned with stone dressings and includes two three-light modified Venetian windows on each floor. The property retains parts of its original shopfronts. The Royal Bell Hotel and Nos. 179 to 181 (odd) form a cohesive group.
