Description

A lodge, dating to circa 1883 and designed by Ernest Newton, originally served as a subsidiary building to Sitka and was built for Emil Teichman. It is constructed in a Vernacular Revival style. The ground floor is of red brick, with the first floor tile-hung, and the roof is tiled with a central brick chimneystack. The building has an asymmetrical plan and irregular fenestration of wooden mullioned casement windows. The north-west or front elevation features a projecting, gabled section with a triple wooden casement window and a coved base over an open porch supported on paired wooden piers; a six-panelled door is located behind. The left side of the ground floor has a five-light canted bay. The south-west side has a large gable with a three-light window to the first floor and a five-light canted bay window to the ground floor. The south-east or rear elevation retains original windows and a lean-to, currently with a 20th-century covering. A further lean-to extension is located to the north-east.
