Description
The Parish Church of St John the Evangelist, located on Parkhill Road in Bexley, was begun in 1881 by architect George Low and consecrated in 1882. The church features a five-bay aisled nave, with the western bay being shorter than the others, and an apsidal chancel. There is a north tower that includes corner turrets and an octagonal upper stage topped with a stone spire, as well as a north porch. The exterior showcases lancet windows and plate tracery. Inside, the church has round piers and pointed arches with two chamfered orders in the nave. The chancel is painted and includes an iron screen, while the nave features tie-beam roofs with king-posts and a ribbed, pointed tunnel vault in the chancel.
