Description
These twelve houses, forming Styleman’s Almshouses, were built in 1755 according to the terms of the will of John Styleman, of Danson Park, who died in 1734, to be constructed after his widow’s death. The almshouses are arranged symmetrically, with two storeys each, around a pedimented central section. They are constructed of red brick with a red tile roof. Each house has two casement windows and a doorway, all with cambered heads. Above the doorways are further casement windows, with straight heads. Large red brick stacks feature, with four flues situated between each pair of adjacent houses. A tablet is set within the pediment, and beneath it is a sundial dated 1882.
