Description
Livingstone Cottage and Monken Cottage are two adjoining buildings located on Hadley Green Road in Monken Hadley, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. Both structures are stuccoed and feature two stories with a basement. Livingstone Cottage is three windows wide and has a ground floor extension to the north. It has later entrance sashes with glazing bars and a later mansard roof that includes a large dormer. A plaque on the wall notes that "David Livingstone lived here in the year 1857." Monken Cottage, which adjoins Livingstone Cottage, is also stuccoed with two stories and dormers beneath a tiled roof, and it features sashes with glazing bars. The entrance is located in the later extension to the right. The properties are complemented by spearhead railings along the road.
