Description

Wilbraham Almshouses, located on Hadley Green Road in Monken Hadley, were built in the early 17th century. They are constructed of red brick and feature a tiled roof. The building consists of six single-storey cottages, each with a two-light mullioned window that has brick mouldings. The cottages have paired plank doors. The roof includes verges and kneelers at each gable, along with paired diagonal set stocks. These almshouses were founded by Sir Roger Wilbraham in 1616 to provide for "six decayed housekeepers."
