Description
Nos. 11 to 19 Seymour Street are terraced houses built between 1780 and 1800, with some later alterations, as part of the Portman Estate development. The buildings are constructed of stock brick, featuring stuccoed ground floors for Nos. 11 to 15 and 19, with No. 19 having a channelled finish. No. 15 includes mid-19th century stucco window dressing, and all have concealed slate roofs. Nos. 11 to 17 are five storeys tall, while No. 19 has four storeys with a dormered mansard, and all have basements. The fronts are three windows wide, with semicircular arched doorways to the left. Nos. 11 to 15 have architrave surrounds with keystones, while No. 19 features a later 19th century granite columned Doric porch. The ground floors of Nos. 11 to 15 have recessed sashes in plain surrounds with keystones, and No. 15 has stucco architraves on the upper floors, along with cornices on consoles at the first floor. A plat band runs along the first floor, and the buildings are topped with crowning stucco cornices and blocking courses, except for a plain parapet at No. 13. Delicate cast iron balconies are present on the first floors of Nos. 11, 13, 17, and 19, while No. 15 has Victorian cast iron balconettes. The area railings are made of cast iron with urn or acanthus-pommel finials, and No. 15 features Victorian cast iron railings.
