Description
Marylebone War Memorial is a commemorative structure featuring a teak gabled crucifix that rises from a triangular-shaped plinth made of Portland stone. The figure of Christ on the cross is gilded.
An inscription carved into the plinth reads: "OF YOUR CHARITY PRAY FOR/ THESE WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES/ IN THE GREAT WAR 1914 – 1918/ R.I.P/ THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE."
The memorial is situated on a paved corner site that is surrounded by a stone kerb and iron railings. Behind the cross, there are two arch-headed plaques made of Portland stone on the wall of the church, which list the names of those who fell in the war.
