Description

Nos. 2 and 4 Dean Trench Street are a row of three townhouses built in the early 1920s. They are constructed of red brick with Portland stone dressings and feature a tiled roof. The design is well detailed in a neo-Georgian style, with three storeys and a dormered mansard roof. Each townhouse has a two-window wide front, while the return of No. 59 Tufton Street is four windows wide. The entrances are recessed and pedimented, with a similar doorway in the return to No. 59 Tufton Street. The windows are recessed box framed glazing bar sashes set under flat gauged arches with keystones. A stone cornice runs below the parapet, topped with coping. These buildings are included as part of the sensitive early 20th-century redevelopment of this street and the west side of Smith Square.
