Lamp post on corner of Tufton Street and 2 Dean Trench Street

This gas street light is located at the corner of Tufton Street and 2 Dean Trench Street. It features a 1910 Eddystone column with a Rochester-type lantern that was likely installed around 1930.

The lamp post is made of cast iron and has a glazed lantern constructed from iron, spun copper, and enamelled steel. The column is tapering and fluted, characteristic of the Eddystone design, and is topped with an upright Rochester lantern. The base of the column displays the Westminster City Council crest on one side, while the opposite side features the royal cypher G V R along with the date 1910. There is also an oval plaque with an illegible number on another side.

The lantern itself has a circular drum and rain-shield made of copper, positioned above an inverted, six-mantle burner encased in teardrop-shaped glass with a drainage hole at its base and an enamelled steel reflector. This entire assembly is held in place by an iron cradle, which has two curved uprights extending from the clock box. These uprights retain much of their original decorative ironwork scrolls, typical of inter-war Rochester lanterns.
