Description

A pair of houses dating from the mid-19th century, located on Hamilton Terrace. The buildings are constructed of yellow brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with a channelled stucco finish to the ground floor and stucco dressings. They consist of two three-storey and basement blocks, each three bays wide, connected by a single-storey linking range and featuring recessed two-storey side wings. Steps lead to round-arched entrances, each containing a half-glazed door with a fanlight above. The main windows are round-arched sashes, with blind boxes evident on number 54. The side wings have narrower round-arched sashes. First-floor windows are sashes with glazing bars set within architraves. An iron balcony is present. Further sashes with glazing bars are set within architraves beneath flat, gauged brick arches on the upper floors. A 20th-century door leads to a balcony on the side bay of number 52. The building is finished with a cornice and blocking course.
