Description

St George's Buildings, consisting of numbers 1 to 40, is an early block of artisans' dwellings built in 1853 and planned by Henry Roberts. The structure is made of stock brick and features a flat roof. Originally, it had four storeys, but a top floor was added in 1876, and there is also a basement. Open staircases provide access to open cast iron galleries along the south elevation, situated between single bay end pavilions. The building has sash windows with flat gauged arches and doorways that lead onto balconies.
