Description
No 74 Grosvenor Street is a terraced house built between 1722 and 1724 by John James, with alterations made in 1849 by Thomas Cundy II. The house features a stucco-faced brick exterior and a slate roof. It stands four storeys tall with a basement and is four windows wide. There is a cornice above the second floor, and an attic storey above that. The ground floor is channelled and includes a Doric columned porch. The windows are segmental arched and set within moulded architraves. A balustraded stucco balcony supported by console brackets is located on the first floor. Mid-19th century cast iron railings enclose the area. Inside, the house retains its original front compartment timber staircase with twisted balusters, along with a dogleg Georgian service staircase located behind it.
