Description
The Statue of Mrs Siddons is a Grade II listed statue located on the south side of Paddington Green in the City of Westminster. Unveiled in 1897, it was created by L J Chavalliaud. The statue is made of white marble and stands on a Portland stone pedestal. It depicts Mrs Sarah Siddons, the renowned tragic actress who lived from 1755 to 1831, and is inspired by Sir Joshua Reynolds' painting titled "The Tragic Muse." In the statue, she is portrayed in classical costume, seated in a dramatic pose with a dagger in her right hand.
