Description

Nos. 17 and 18, Paddington Green are a pair of houses dating from circa 1800, with later alterations including the addition of a third floor and rebuilding of the entrance bay of No. 18. The entrance wing to No. 17 was rebuilt in the 20th century. The houses are constructed of yellow-brown brick with stucco dressings, and have a concealed roof. They have four storeys and a basement, with two bays, and a recessed lower entrance bay to the left. The window bays project forward. The ground floor windows are tripartite sashes, with glazing bars to No. 18. A first-floor band is present. The first floor windows are tripartite casements with iron balconies and a swept canopy to No. 17. The upper floors have 16-pane sashes. A third-floor band is also present. The entrance bay of No. 18 features a two-bay arcade of round arches on the ground floor, containing a door with a fanlight and a 16-pane sash window. Above are 16-pane and 12-pane sashes with gauged brick arches, though there is substantial rebuilding above.
