Description
This is a row of six terraced houses located on the west side of Cleveland Square, dating from the mid-19th century. The houses are constructed of stucco, with a roof that is not visible. They are three storeys high, with an attic level, and some have a mansard roof. Numbers 24 and 27 have an additional full attic storey, and basements are present beneath all properties. Each house is three windows wide. The ground floor is characterised by channelled detailing. Projecting Doric porches have solid sides with arched windows on the flanks, and feature studded doors. A continuous stucco balustraded balcony runs across the first floor. The windows on the ground floor have architraves, while those on the first floor have alternating triangular and segmental pediments. A decorative guilloche band runs above the first floor. Cast iron window guards are present on the second floor. The windows are sash windows with plate glass; the first floor windows are French casements. Blind boxes are present on number 27. A modillion cornice sits above the second floor, with a smaller cornice above the attic. The houses are an integral part of the planned layout of Cleveland Square.
