Description
47 and 49 Lexington Street are terraced houses built around 1719. They are constructed of brown brick with slate roofs and rise to four storeys, featuring parapets with copings. Each house has three windows across its façade. Number 47 boasts a well-preserved mid-19th century shop front, which includes a central window flanked by panelled and glazed doors set within a wooden fluted pilaster frame, topped with a fascia and moulded cornice. Number 49 features an early 19th century wooden shop front supported by Tuscan pilasters that hold up an entablature. The upper floors of both houses have flush framed sash windows without glazing bars, set under red brick gauged arches—segmental on the first floor—with additional red brick dressings. Notably, number 49 has a second-floor sill band and retains significant original interior features, including a panelled design with fielded box cornices on the first floor and a slender turned baluster staircase with a cut string.
