Description
Nos. 51 and 53 on Lexington Street are terrace houses built in 1719, with some early 19th-century alterations. They are constructed from black painted stock brick and have a concealed roof. The buildings rise to four storeys, with each front featuring two windows. The ground floors maintain early 19th-century timber shop fronts, which are flanked by panelled and glazed shop doors, as well as six-panel house doors that have rectangular fanlights. The display window of No. 51 still has its original large panes with glazing bars, all framed by slender pilasters that support entablature-fascias. The upper floors feature recessed 19th-century sash windows in exposed frames, set under segmental red brick arches. No. 53 includes a stucco plat band at the first floor and has a common parapet with coping.
