Description
The Westminster Chapel is a Nonconformist chapel built between 1864 and 1865, designed by W.F. Poulton. It is constructed of stock brick, with some red brick and stone dressings, and is designed in the Italian Romanesque style. The building has two storeys and an attic, featuring a gabled facade facing Buckingham Gate. This facade includes a recessed triple arched central porch with graduated arcading above, all adorned with decorative shafting. To the right, there is a tower with coupled arched windows, although the uppermost stage was added in the 20th century in a different style and color. The chapel displays much brick polychromy and has a return to the right with two tiers of arched windows. The interior is noted for its particular interest, being nearly oval with two tiers of galleries and a large roof span, as reported by Pevsner.
