Description
No. 16 Hanover Square is a substantial terrace house built around 1720. It features a brown brick facade with a stuccoed ground floor and a slate roof. The building has undergone early to mid-19th century alterations and stands five storeys tall, with a later attic storey and dormers in a mansard style. It has four windows and an original cornice at the third floor level, along with plat bands between the storeys. The revealed sash windows have segmental arches on the first and second floors. Above a projecting Doric porch, which is located to the left of center, there is a continuous cast iron balcony. Inside, there are notable features, including a cut string staircase with turned balusters and a swept handrail, as well as decorative doorcases.
