Description
No. 21 Hanover Square is a substantial town house built around 1740 to 1750, with later remodelling in the mid-19th century and beyond. The building is constructed of red brick, featuring Portland stone and painted dressings. It stands three storeys high, with a basement and a slated mansard roof that includes dormer windows. The façade has five windows, with two additional windows on the return and a Venetian window on the central projection. The ground floor is rusticated and has two porches supported by Doric columns, likely added in the early 20th century. The first-floor windows are framed with architraves and cornices. A main cornice runs along the top, topped by a balustraded parapet that screens the attic. The property also has area railings and is located on a corner site with Brook Street.
