Description
49 Berkeley Square is a town house built around 1750. It features blackened brick and stands four storeys tall with a basement, having three windows. The entrance has a stone architrave doorcase topped with a cornice on consoles. The windows have revealed glazing bar sashes set under gauged brick flat arches. There is a plat band at the first floor and a moulded stone cornice at the third floor level, topped by a parapet with coping. An early 19th-century addition includes a continuous cast iron balcony with a geometric pattern. The area is enclosed by wrought iron railings and lamp standards. Inside, there is a cut string staircase with a wrought iron balustrade, along with decorative door furniture and plasterwork cornices and friezes. This building is part of the best remaining terrace of town houses in Berkeley Square.
