Description
No. 50 Berkeley Square is a building dating from around 1750. It is constructed of blackened brick, with the ground floor later covered in stucco. The building has four storeys and a basement, featuring three windows. At the third floor level, there is a stone cornice and a parapet with coping. The entrance has a stone architrave doorcase topped with a cornice supported by consoles. The windows have revealed glazing bar sashes set beneath flat gauged brick arches, and the first-floor windows are complemented by a continuous early 19th-century cast iron balcony with a geometric pattern. The property includes wrought iron area railings and an overthrow with brick extinguishers and a lampholder. Inside, the building retains a wrought iron balustrade on the open string staircase, along with late 18th-century marble chimneypieces. This building is part of the best surviving terrace of townhouses in Berkeley Square.
