Description
No. 26 Upper Wimpole Street is a corner terraced town house built around 1900. It features red brick with Portland stone and painted stone dressings, topped with a slate roof. The design is in a Free Style that incorporates elements of "Queen Anne" and Renaissance architecture. The building stands four storeys high with a basement. The Upper Wimpole Street facade has two double-gabled windows, while a three-storey rectangular bay projects at the corner, with a three-window return facing Weymouth Street that includes the entrance. The ground floor of the return has a cornice hooded doorway and a bow window. The windows throughout are a mix of mullioned-transomed casements and sashes. Decorative features enhance the corner bay and the single-storey adjoining rectangular bay window facing Harley Street, both topped with shaped parapets. The crowning gables have shaped copings, and there is a swept parapet. Additionally, cast iron area railings in a "Queen Anne" style surround the property.
