Description

39 Wimpole Street is a terraced town house dating from the 1770s, built as part of the Portland Estate development. It was likely designed by John White, although the upper floors were later rebuilt. The front of the building is of stock brick with a channelled stucco ground floor, topped by a slate roof. It is four storeys high with a basement, and three windows wide. The front elevation is in a simple style. A semicircular arched doorway is on the left, featuring stucco rustications and a Coade stone banded keystone. The doorway contains a panelled door, side lights, and a fanlight arranged in a Venetian window composition. The windows are recessed sash windows with flat, gauged arches. A parapet runs along the top of the building, with coping along its edge. Plumbed spike finials are present on the area railings. The interior of the building has not been inspected.
