Description
Nos 45 to 49 Weymouth Street are terraced townhouses built around 1780 to 1790 as part of the Portland Estate development. The houses are constructed of stock brick with a rusticated stucco ground floor and feature slate roofs. They rise four storeys and have basements, with each front being three windows wide and without stylistic embellishments.
The doorways are semicircular arched and set back for one order, adorned with stucco blocks and voussoirs. Each has panelled doors framed by pilaster jambs and topped with cornice-heads beneath fanlights. The upper floors have recessed sash windows under flat gauged arches, and there is a plat band above the ground floor. The parapet is finished with coping, and there are continuous cast iron balconies on the first floor with geometric patterns. The area railings are made of cast iron and feature tasselled spearhead finials.
No 47 contains notable interior features, including a geometrical iron balustraded staircase and delicate plaster mouldings.
