Description

This is part of the Devonshire Club, a terrace house dating from the early to mid-18th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. The building is constructed of brown brick with a slate roof, and it rises four storeys and a basement, with an added two-storey attic. The ground floor is stuccoed, featuring a stucco architraved doorway on the right side. The ground-floor windows are also architraved and have cornices; the upper-floor windows are revealed sash windows without glazing bars, set within flat, gauged arches. A stucco cornice runs above the third floor. Cast iron balconettes are present on the first floor. A plaque commemorates the residence of Sir Robert Walpole from 1741 to 1746, which is a factor in the building's II* group value.
