Description
This is a terrace of houses built in the 1860s on Randolph Avenue, City of Westminster. The terrace is constructed of gault brick with red brick dressings, stucco, and painted freestone detailing, and is designed in an Italianate Gothic style. The symmetrical composition features a six-bay centre and four-bay end blocks, which project forward, with 14-bay linking wings. The houses are arranged over four storeys, with an attic and basement. Each house comprises two bays. Stucco porches with stilted arches contain half-glazed doors and overlights. The windows are tripartite sashes. A continuous balcony runs across the first floor. The central and end blocks have tripartite round-arched sashes separated by ornamented columns with foliate capitals, supporting pointed arches with red brick banding and stucco hood moulds; key stones mask the centres. The linking wings feature two-light round-arched sashes with columns and round relieving arches, square heads, and decorative motifs in the spandrels. A red-brick band sits at impost level. The second floor windows are sashes, flat-arched on the wings and round-arched with banded pointed arches on the centre and ends. A stucco band with roundels marks the third floor. The third floor windows are similar to those below. A cornice tops the building, above which a balustrade is found on the centre and end blocks. The linking wings have a mansard roof with dormers.
