Description

This is an incomplete terrace of houses located at 11-25 St Ann’s Terrace, London NW8, dating to around 1840. The buildings are constructed of stucco, with the roof hidden from view. The terrace comprises three storeys, a basement, and a recessed attic. Each house is two windows wide. The end houses on the right, and the first three houses on the left, project forward, featuring a ground floor with fluted Corinthian columns and a broad pediment, with Nos 11-15 originally intended as a centrepiece. Steps lead to the entrances. The doors are panelled and set within square-headed architraves, while the windows are square-headed with architraves above the ground floor. The windows have sash glazing with margin lights; a cornice is present on the first floor, and pediments embellish the windows of Nos 17, 19, and 21. Cast iron balconies are found on the ground floor, with tented canopies over Nos 17 to 21, and on the first floor across the other houses, all supported by cast iron standards with a Greek key patterned trellis. A cornice sits above the second floor, topped by a parapet. This terrace holds group value due to its architectural contribution to St Ann’s Terrace.
