Description
No 49 Grosvenor Street is a terrace house built in 1725, which was heightened and altered in 1870 by Alfred Waterhouse. The building is constructed of red brick and features a slate roof. It stands four storeys tall, with a basement and dormers in a mansard style. There are four windows on the facade, with a cornice at the third floor level and a secondary course, topped by a parapet that is adorned with stone urns. The windows are revealed sash types, set within segmental arches that have stuccoed keystones. A continuous 19th-century cast iron balcony spans the first floor, and there is a Tuscan columned porch to the left. The property also boasts elaborate 19th-century cast iron area railings.
