Description
This is a row of ten terraced houses, numbers 32 to 48, located on Leinster Gardens in Westminster. They were built around 1855 as part of a larger, planned development that included Queen's Gardens. The houses are constructed of stucco, with a visible basement and attic, and extend over four storeys. The ground floor is rusticated, and each house features a pair of projecting porches with Ionic columns and panelled doors. A continuous balustraded balcony runs along the first floor. The windows are square-headed, with the first floor windows accentuated by fluted Corinthian half columns and pediments. The second and third floors have cornices with individual balustraded balconies. The windows are a mix of sashes and casements, some with plate glass and others being French casements. A detailed dentil cornice runs above the third floor, although it is absent from houses 47 and 48. An area balustrade is present. The terrace originally ran further, but intervening houses have been demolished, and the row now connects with numbers 19 to 22, including 19A.
