HORSEFERRY ROAD TQ 3078 NW (east side) 1900-/88/10023 Monument to Christopher Cass the Elder II the address shall be amended to read: HORSEFERRY ROAD (south side-off) Monument to Christopher Cass the Elder on east side of St. John's Gardens.


HORSEFERRY ROAD TQ 3078 NW (east side) 1900-/88/10024 Monument to Christopher Cass the Eider II Monument to Christopher Cass the Elder, Mason (1678-1734). Granite, in form of massive sarcophagus with segmental lid, entablature and niches to sides. Probably designed by Cass himself Inscribed: "CHRR CASS/ MASTER MASON/ TO HIS/ MAJ ORDNANCE/ DY'D APR. 21 1734". Cass was a prominent City mason, who was responsible for StJohn's Smith Square, Blenheim Palace, et cetera. This is said to be the earliest granite monument in England.
