Description
These are seven lampstandards numbered G4, G5, G6, G9, G10, G11, and G12, located in Smith Square, Westminster. They date from the early to mid-19th century and are made of cast iron. Each lampstandard features a square section battered base and a shaft topped with tulip heads, along with Rochester or earlier square finialed lanterns. These lampstandards are part of a notable sequence of gas lampstandards in the area. For reference, lampstandard G1 can be found at Nos. 3 to 5 Smith Square, and lampstandards G2, G3, G7, and G8 are located at the Church of St. John the Evangelist in Smith Square.
