Description

This is a mid-19th century terrace of houses located at 10-18 Sussex Place, and also incorporates No. 35 Clifton Place. The buildings are constructed of brick which has been stuccoed, with the ground floor channelled to create the appearance of rustication. The terrace extends four storeys above a basement. Most of the houses are two bays wide, with a more elaborate return to Clifton Place. No. 35 Clifton Place occupies three bays of the return, while Nos. 10-17 are arranged in a 2:2 pattern to form the entrance front of No. 18, which has three bays facing Sussex Place. A Doric porch features at No. 18. The entrances are pilastered, with overlights, and contain tripartite sash windows, some of which have been replaced. A first-floor iron balcony is present. Sash windows, some with glazing bars, are set within architraves throughout. Original iron basement railings remain.
