Description

A terrace of houses numbered 45 to 69, Eaton Place, dating from the early to mid-19th century. The houses are constructed of stucco with low slate mansard roofs. The central three houses and the houses at each end are set forward slightly. The terrace is four storeys high, with a mansard attic and basement. Each house has three windows. The ground floor is channelled, with the exception of numbers 61 and 63. The houses feature Doric, unfluted, projecting porches and panelled doors. A continuous balustraded balcony runs along the first floor. Windows are square-headed, with architraves to the first and second floors, and cornices to the first. Pediments are above the first-floor windows of the central three houses and the centre windows of the end pairs. The windows are sash windows with glazing bars, and French casements to the first floor. A dentil cornice sits above the second floor, and a subsidiary cornice above the third. A balustraded parapet runs along the top, although it is missing from numbers 47 and 63. The terrace has cast iron area railings with spearheads.
