Description

A row of three terraced town houses dating from approximately 1850 to 1855, likely designed by Sir James Pennethorne. The houses are constructed of stucco with slate roofs and exhibit Italianate detailing. They rise four storeys high, with basements and dormered mansards. Each front is three windows wide, although No. 5 has grouped windows and No. 4 has an eight-window return. Large, Doric columned portico-porches are present to the right and left of No. 5 and No. 6, with a similar porch on the return of No. 4. The windows are tall, recessed plate glass sashes; those on the first floor have segmental pediments, while the second-floor windows have cornices. The first and second floor windows of No. 5 are arranged as triplets. The ground floor features banded rustication, and stucco balconies with cast iron railings are found on the first floor. A deep cornice and blocking course are also present. The property is further characterised by cast iron area railings.
