Description

2, Palace Court is a terraced house built in 1891 by Flockhart. It is located in the City of Westminster. The house is three storeys high with an attic-mansard and basement, and is constructed of red brick with some carved detailing. The facade comprises four main bays facing Palace Court. A full-height, mostly blind, octagonal turret is positioned to the left, while a projecting polygonal oriel extends from the right-hand corner, widening on the first and second floors. A projecting entrance is located on the left, framed by a double-moulded archway capped with a cut brick parapet. The second bay from the right features a ground floor oriel with an ogeed lead roof. A polygonal portal is set into the upper floor on the left side, incorporating an applied half-column and a copper ogee dome. Windows are primarily square-headed, with a segmental-headed window on the central second floor. Moulded architraves frame the windows. A four-bay loggia is present on the third floor, incorporating moulded segmental arches and a cut brick balustrade to the balcony. The eaves feature a cut brick cornice, and the roof is steeply pitched. Prominent chimneys are visible. The returns to the right and left sides exhibit similar treatment. The interior has not been inspected.
