Description

No 12 Weymouth Street is a terraced town house built around 1780 as part of the Portland Estate development linked to the Adam Brothers' Portland Place. The building is constructed of stock brick with a rusticated stucco ground floor and features a slate roof. It has four storeys, a dormered mansard, and a basement, with a three-window wide front that lacks stylistic embellishments. To the left, there is a semicircular arched doorway framed by a stucco architrave, featuring a panelled door with Ionic column jambs and a cornice above, topped by a patterned fanlight. The upper floors have recessed sash windows set under flat gauged arches, and there is a plat band above the ground floor. The parapet has coping, and a geometric patterned cast iron balcony spans the first floor. Inside, the house retains some plasterwork and detailing in the Adam style, along with a geometrical staircase that has a wrought iron balustrade.
