Description

This is a pair of houses located at 29 Exhibition Road, built around 1877-1878 by architect J J Stevenson. The houses are constructed of red brick, with some carved detailing, and feature a steeply pitched, red tiled roof. They display a picturesque design in the Queen Anne style and were originally situated on an island site, showcasing architectural interest on all sides.

The buildings rise three storeys with an attic and basement. The facade facing Prince Consort Road is six windows wide, with two outer bays on either side under gables. The entrance is located in the third bay from the left, featuring steps beneath a balcony that consists of two segmental arches topped by a balustrade. The windows are sashed, with segmental arches on the ground floor and square shapes above. They have small panes and timber glazing bars.

An elaborate cornice above the first floor is adorned with "pie" motifs and fluting made from cut brick. The second floor windows are topped with finely crafted cut brick split pediments. The houses also have dormers and tall chimneys, along with a significant amount of ornamental carved brickwork.
