Description
This is a terrace of houses located on Fifth Avenue in Westminster, built around 1874. The central pair of houses are dated on a plaque. Designed by Austin and Roland Plumbe for the Queen's Park Estate, which was developed to provide housing for working people, the terrace is constructed from yellow brick with red brick dressings and a Welsh slate roof.
The terrace comprises two storeys and is arranged with two bays per house. The architectural style is Free Gothic. A gabled porch fronts the central pair of houses, while the other houses have corbelled porches with tiled roofs, each containing a pair of entrances with Tudor-arched doorways and half-glazed doors. The end houses have entrances on their side returns and tripartite windows on each floor. The ground-floor windows are paired sashes with a dividing colonette and moulded lintels. The upper-floor windows are mostly sashes with margin lights. A moulded eaves cornice runs along the top of the building. The terrace is an important part of the main street of the Queen's Park Estate.
