Description
This is a terrace of four houses, numbers 5 to 9, located on the south-east side of Craven Road in Westminster. Built in the mid to late 19th century, the terrace is constructed of painted brick with stucco dressings and has a Welsh slate roof. The houses are each two bays wide and stand four storeys high, with an attic containing dormers. Pilasters divide the houses; these are rusticated on the first and second floors, and fluted on the third floor, topped with composite capitals. The ground floor is flanked by pilasters, partly vermiculated, and includes remains of a 19th-century shop front on number 7, with the remainder of the ground floor being of 20th-century design. Above the ground floor, segmental-arched casement windows are set within eared architraves. Segmental cornices featuring human heads decorate the first floor. Iron balconies are present throughout the terrace. A modillion cornice runs along the building. The roof is a Mansard style with tall dormers.
