Description
The Ascot Hotel is a hotel built in the mid to late 19th century. It features painted brick with stucco dressings and a Welsh slate roof. The building stands four storeys tall with a prominent attic and roof dormers, arranged in five bays. The ground floor has been altered in the 20th century. Above this, pilasters define the bays, appearing rusticated on the first and second floors and fluted above with composite capitals. The central bay is finished in stucco and includes segmental-arched sash windows with eared architraves and hoods. The central bay also has volutes flanking the third-floor window and a broken pediment with a bust in the attic. A modillion cornice runs along the top, while the outer bays feature segmental pediments at the cornice level. There is an additional cornice at the attic level, and the mansard roof is topped with 20th-century dormers.
