Description
This is a mid-19th century block of houses located on Sussex Gardens. The building is constructed of stucco, with a roof that is not visible. It rises four storeys, with an attic and basement. Number 237 is four windows wide, while number 239 is three windows wide. The ground floor features channelling. Projecting Doric porches are present, incorporating triglyph and frieze details. A continuous bombé balcony runs along the first floor. The first-floor windows are arched, with blind tympana on number 237; architraves are set above the ground-floor windows. Above the first floor, square-headed windows are present, with cornices to the second floor. The windows are mostly plate glass casements, and a dentil cornice sits above the third floor, with a subsidiary cornice to the attic. The building returns to the right and left. Cast iron area railings are also present. The building is included in the list for group value only.
