Description
Nos 314 to 326 Regent Street, including Nos 11 and 12 Little Portland Street and Nos 101-105 Mortimer Street, is a block of shops and offices built around 1924 by Sir Henry Tanner and completed by Constantine and Vernon in 1925. The building is constructed from Portland stone and features slate roofs, showcasing a Classical style with Beaux Arts details.
The ground floor has mid and later 20th-century shop fronts but retains elements of pilaster frames beneath the entablature. The structure rises four storeys with an attic and two tiers of dormers in a steep mansard roof. The upper floors are arranged with 11 window bays, including one-window splayed corners, a nine-window return to Little Portland Street, and an eight-window return to Mortimer Street. The windows are metal casement types, with those on the first and second floors set in recessed architraved bays adorned with cornices.
At each end of the facade, three bays are flanked by pilasters that support an entablature featuring a dentil cornice. The attic cornice is topped with urn finials. The ground floor entablature includes carved triumphal ornaments between the three main sections of the facade. Additionally, there are cast iron balconies at the first-floor windows. The ridge of the mansard roof is decorated with bronze cresting and bronze triumphal ornaments as terminal acroteria.
