Description

Nos. 29 and 30 King Street are a combined pair of office buildings located in the City of Westminster. No. 29 was rebuilt in 1861 by Messrs. Francis, while No. 30 was constructed between 1859 and 1860 by C.G. Searle. The buildings are finished in stucco and topped with slate roofs, showcasing restrained Italianate architectural details. They rise four storeys above a basement and feature four windows across, arranged as two wide-spaced pairs.

The ground floor shop fronts present a good original design at No. 29, which includes a central doorway and side windows that are all elliptically arched and framed by Corinthian pilasters and an entablature. The shop front of No. 30 has been altered in the mid-20th century. The first floor features architraved sash windows that are segmental arched, complete with keystones and segmental pediments, while the second floor has blind balustrading. The top floor windows are plain with keystones. The first floor is channelled, and there are channelled quoin pilasters on the second floor. Additional architectural features include moulded string courses, sill courses, a console bracketed main cornice, and a parapet with projecting dies.
