Description
No. 81 Clapham Common West Side is a building dating from around 1800. It is one of a pair with advanced end bays and features three bays with an offset closed porch. The building has two storeys, a basement, and dormers, topped by a slated gambrel roof. It is constructed from stock bricks that are stained red, with a stucco porch and dressings. The exterior includes a crowning frieze and cornice. A flight of stone steps leads up to a moulded round-arched door architrave, framed by an Ionic order and entablature, although the dentil cornice is damaged. The chimney stacks are made of yellow stocks. The garden elevation features a bow with tripartite windows on each floor. There is also a later extension that is recessed from the porch.
