Description

CLAPHAM COMMON 1. 5033 (west side) SW11 No 81 TQ 2874 13/4 II GV 2. Circa 1800. One of a pair with advanced end bays, it is 3 bays wide with an offset closed porch. It is of 2 storeys, basement and dormers with slated gambrel roof and faced with stock bricks stained red, stucco porch and dressings. There are a crowning frieze and cornice. A flight of stone steps rises between abutments to a moulded round-arched door architrave, the whole framed by an Ionic order and entablature with the dentil cornice damaged. The stacks are of yellow stocks. Garden elevation has bow with tripartite window to each floor. A later extension is recessed from the porch.
