Description
Western Lodge, located on Clapham Common in Battersea, dates from around 1784 and has seen some additions and alterations over the years. This two-storey building includes a basement and dormers, featuring three windows with the central bay slightly projecting and one window wing to the north. The exterior is constructed of brown brick, adorned with a stucco cornice that has an enriched bedmould. The entrance is framed by a wood doorcase with flattened Doric columns, which is set behind a later Victorian porch. There is also an added semi-circular bay on the ground floor to the north of the entrance, while the south ground floor window is set in an arched recess. A segmental arch in the south return wall leads to wood double doors. The garden elevation showcases a central three-window splay bay. Inside, the building retains contemporary features. Additionally, there is a former coach house located at the west end of the garden.
