Description
Lock Cottage is an early 19th-century building, with alterations made in the 20th century. It is constructed of brick, with a slate roof and gable parapets finished with stone coping. There are two brick ridge stacks. The cottage is a single storey and four bays wide. The south front has a range of four 12-pane sash windows, each with a cambered arch and a pair of wooden shutters. A plain doorway is located in the west gable end wall. A small 19th-century brick extension is attached to the east, and a smaller 20th-century brick extension is attached to the west, both with slate roofs. The cottage is situated beside the Regent's Canal, built between 1812 and 1820 by James Morgan, under the supervision of John Nash.
